Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on 28 October 1967, in Atlanta. Julia Fiona Roberts is the 4th generation Roberts living in Atlanta. At an early age the father of her mother became obsessed by acting. When he was studying at Emory University in 1952 he was a part of productions at Emory University as well as in other parts of Atlanta. He joined the military in 1953. During his time being stationed at Biloxi Mississippi was cast in the military's production, which featured Betty Lou Bredemus who was also in the Air force. They got married in the year 1955 and their first child Eric Anthony was born in 1956. In 1957 the couple left the Air Force and Walter began his studies at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter was hired to work for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to assist on the stage of the show Bum Bum and His Buddies. The show was filmed in Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou produced a Saturday morning local television show that was aimed at children, known as Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964. This was a project that they funded themselves. In 1964, Walter and Betty Lou established their own organization called the Actors and Writers Workshop. It ran for about six years. They had Lelisa Billingsley (also known as Lisa) and Julia (also known as Julie) at the time.
